POSITION SUMMARY:

Working as a key member of the business unit, the Senior Manager of Human Resources will identify business challenges and opportunities and provide effective people solutions across the factory. The Senior Manager of Human Resources will also lead strategic HR objectives such as workforce planning and organization development, as well as compensation, benefits, training, and leave of absence administration.

The successful candidate will have a background in managing employee relations in a high-volume candle manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on role with direct interaction with all levels of management and our production staff, including the functional leadership of the HR team.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Act as a cultural steward to reinforce the organization's core values and behavioral expectations through modeling, communication, and coaching
  • Advises the SVP Manufacturing and Distribution, and other site leaders on HR strategies and issues
  • Key contributor to creating and executing the site strategy, ensuring human resources implications are effectively identified and addressed
  • Provides change management leadership to be proactive in anticipating, assessing, and addressing the needs of the factory
  • Drives effective talent management strategies across the factory, including recruiting, performance management, succession planning, employee development, employee engagement, diversity, inclusion, and retention
  • Collaborates with corporate HR team to coordinate and drive the performance appraisal and annual compensation planning process
  • Oversees employee relations, which includes assessing the organizational climate by obtaining employee input, responding to employee concerns, addressing legal requirements, and investigating to policy violations
  • Acts as administrative project manager for HR systems implementations relative to integrations and continuous improvement
  • Oversees the security and wellness programs and compliance with all local, state and federal laws
  • Drive process and efficiency improvement across all functions of the HR department
  • Develops and implements HR policies and programs for the Leesburg location as needed
  • Represent Luminex Home Dcor & Fragrance in various community and public relations activities

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Successful, 10+ year track record in a large, single site manufacturing organization
  • Significant HR management experience and knowledge of human resources systems
  • Proven record of effectively resolving employee issues, improving processes and increasing efficiency
  • A demonstrated capacity to navigate effectively in a matrix environment
  • Experience balancing site needs with corporate priorities
  • Experience in delivering corporate HR programs and initiatives, ensuring they are embraced by and become embedded within the business
  • Sound knowledge of technical HR systems, processes and procedures; experience working with JD Edwards and/or UltiPro is a plus
  • Sound knowledge of applicable labor and employee laws related to a manufacturing operation
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and presenting high impact plans to senior leadership
  • Demonstrated analytical and process management skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), including strong business acumen
  • Experience managing others, with an emphasis on driving team performance
  • Outstanding cross-functional leadership skills; viewed as credible by business unit/functional leaders
  • Willingness to professionally challenge senior management thinking
  • Able to get buy-in and commitment from both internal and external stakeholders

  • Personal office space is in a typical office area within a high-volume manufacturing and distribution facility.
  • Must be comfortable working in a loud, highly fragrant industrial environment.
