Supervises daily activities of Buyers and/or support staff. Purchases materials, equipment, supplies and services in accordance with established purchasing regulations and procedures. Reviews and analyzes purchases for accuracy and timeliness. Implement processes and procedures to ensure timely, efficient, economical, and accurate procurement.

Key Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Analysis for assigned major commodity(s), market trends, price variance tracking and reporting.

  • Interprets purchasing procedures and policies to departments and vendors.
  • Product specialist in major of commodity categories which require a high degree of technical knowledge.
  • Plan and coordinate the procurement of materials, parts, supplies, and services with counterparts in other functional areas of the organization in the most economical manner within specified time frames.
  • Identify opportunities and challenges within the supply chain and work with internal stake holders to implement appropriate resolution.
  • Review and place purchase orders as required.
  • Expedites purchase orders and coordinates incoming shipments and returns to vendors. Resolves problems and scheduling conflicts.
  • Compile and report KPIs and significant supply chain activities, roadblocks, and accomplishments.
  • Review and resolve any discrepancies with supplier invoices, grievances, claims, conflicts, product non-conformance or quality issues.
  • Assist in development, implementation, and communication of purchasing procedures and policies to departments, suppliers, and staff.
  • Participate in supplier meetings to review KPIs, communicate organizational expectations, identify obstacles to success and implement improvements.
  • Participate in the development of highly complex bids and specifications.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers.


Education and/or Experience

  • 3 to 5 years prior experience in a purchasing function.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of commercial purchasing.
  • Strong collaboration skills across all functions and internally within the PPIC team.
  • Strong written communication and presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of inventory planning and forecasting techniques.

Experience utilizing an ERP and MRP system.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Detail Oriented

Promote teamwork.

Communicates goals and objectives to team members and stakeholders.

Support and participate in company organizational initiatives.

Supervise, direct, train, coach, and counsel direct reports.

Language Skills (if applicable)

Very good communication skills, both verbal and written, problem solving and analytical skills.

Good interpersonal and leadership skills.

Physical Demands, Including Travel

Standing, walking, sitting, lift and/or move up to 30 pounds

Must be comfortable working in a loud, highly fragrant industrial environment.

Work Environment

Personal office space is in a typical office area within a high-volume manufacturing and distribution facility.
